As a Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist within our C/TPA, you will play a vital role in the coordination and execution of drug and alcohol testing services. This dual role involves both clinical and administrative duties, including specimen collection, phlebotomy, documentation, and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Your work ensures our clients meet all required standards and regulations.

Phlebotomy

Perform blood draws and handle specimens according to established protocols. Ensure accurate labeling, secure handling, and timely processing of blood samples. Maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.

Specimen Collection

Collect urine, saliva, hair, and other samples for drug and alcohol testing, following DOT and company guidelines.
Accurately complete and maintain the chain of custody for all collected specimens.

Administrative Support

Assist in maintaining and updating client records, including test results and compliance documentation.
Manage data entry into the FMCSA Clearinghouse and other relevant systems.
Prepare and process required documentation, including consent forms, test results, and compliance reports.

Client Interaction

Provide clear instructions and support to clients and individuals undergoing testing.
Address inquiries related to testing procedures, phlebotomy, and regulatory compliance.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensure adherence to all DOT regulations, company policies, and industry standards in both phlebotomy and drug testing procedures.
Assist with audit preparations, ensuring all records and procedures are compliant and up to date.

Medical Assistance

Support basic medical tasks, such as taking vital signs or performing preliminary assessments as needed.
Provide first aid or immediate care in case of emergencies during the testing process.

Training & Development

Participate in ongoing training related to phlebotomy, DOT regulations, and C/TPA operations.
Keep up with industry developments and changes in regulations to maintain best practices.

Qualifications

Skills:
Proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Familiarity with medical software and compliance systems.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform blood draws and handle other specimen collection tasks for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry equipment or supplies up to [Insert Weight Limit].

Working Conditions:
Work may occur in various settings, including clinics, client locations, or mobile collection sites. Occasional travel to different collection sites or client locations may be required.

Education:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT). High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:
Previous experience as a Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist.
Experience in a drug testing environment or with DOT regulations is highly preferred.

Certifications:
DOT certification as a specimen collector or willingness to obtain certification. CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
